About the Author
Andrei Straumanis has a B.A. in Chemistry from Oberlin College and a PhD in organic chemistry from Stanford University. During a three-year NSF-supported post-doctoral fellowship in SMET education, Dr. Straumanis developed and tested materials for guided inquiry organic chemistry. Since 1997, he has given numerous talks and workshops on active learning in organic chemistry and the use of guided inquiry in large classrooms.

Excellent way of learning!

I took Organic Chemistry II with Andrei Staumanis at UW-Seattle several years back. I hadn't thought about this class in awhile, but I just recently was telling someone about the POGIL system and how effective it is in learning. O. Chem was much much easier to understand when you do the POGIL method. It may seem silly at first to answer such questions in each small step, but it really helps deconstruct the enigma of chemistry and makes it much more digestable for the brain. Get this book if you are struggling in OCHEM. It's a fraction of the cost that your normal text book probably cost you, but is 1000 x more effective.
